Every January 6, King Felipe and Queen Letizia preside over the acts of the Military Parade as King and Queen of Spain.
We will review the styling that the Queen has worn since 2015 at this important event.
Queen Letizia’s outfits at the Military Parade
The celebration of the Military Parade takes place every January 6 and coincides with the Epiphany Day of the Three Kings.
Since his proclamation as King in 2014, both Felipe VI and Queen Letizia have presided over this event, marking the beginning of the official agenda of the Royal Family in the new year.
Each year Queen Letizia shows her style with a special outfit, often combined with a warm garment, as part of the first part of the ceremony takes place outdoors.
During the second part of the ceremony, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia receive government representatives and military personnel from the three armies and state security forces at the Royal Palace in Madrid.
The 2024 Military Parade will have a new member to accompany the King and Queen of Spain: Princess Leonor.
Military Parade 2015
The queen presided over her first Military Parade in 2015, wearing a dress by Felipe Varela. It was a dress made of opal green wool double crepe embroidered in thread and crystal in tone on the sleeves and sides of the skirt. She combined the piece with suede shoes by Magrit.
Military Parade 2016
In 2016, the Queen debuted a black skirt in black silk, embroidered Richelieu in black thread, signed by Felipe Varela, her go-to designer who also signed the retro-cut white jacket.
Military Parade 2017
Queen Letizia recycled the Felipe Varela dress she already wore in 2015 at this same event.
Military Parade 2018
For the fourth consecutive year, Queen Letizia wore a Felipe Varela dress. It is a vintage-inspired design in velvet cinched at the waist with a belt incorporated into the dress with a square shape, baby neckline, ruffled sleeves, and front buttoning.
Military Parade 2019
In 2019, the monarch gave a second life to the blue velvet dress she wore in 2018. This time, however, she opted to swap the matching jacket for a tweed model. This one was a long-sleeved, round-neck design.
Military Parade 2020
The mother of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia wore in 2020 a foot-length dress in ‘classic blue’ color. It is a wrap silhouette model, with a V-neckline and an opening in the skirt, with a lapel collar and side closure through a silver button. She accessorized it with black high heels.
Military Parade 2021
This year, the Military Parade was marked by the pandemic. For the occasion, the queen has opted for a black cape by Carolina Herrera, a tube skirt in a dark color, and a flowing blouse with bright white buttons. She opted for a pair of Magrit pumps with crossed straps.
Military Parade 2022
In 2022 she also chose to wear a long-sleeved dress in dark blue. A look that she completed with a pearl brooch from La Peregrina.
Military Parade 2023
For 2023, Queen Letizia chose a long maroon dress by Felipe Varela that she rescued from her closet and that she had worn in 2013. It is a long-sleeved dress, with a round neck, and a straight silhouette and is slightly fitted at the waist that is characterized by guipure lace details placed at different points of the garment: the sleeves, the chest, and the bottom of the skirt. She paired it with matching Lodi pumps and earrings.
Military Parade 2024
The Queen debuted a pearl gray silk blouse, high neck, and long sleeves. A garment that has combined with a simple long black skirt, pencil silhouette of the firm Bouret, made of black crepe.
