After a reunion that thrilled more than one in the port of Panama, Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor decided to take advantage of their free time with a much more relaxed plan.
Mother and daughter, who had not seen each other for four months, escaped to the old part of the city and sat down to eat like two tourists in one of the most recommended restaurants in the area.
Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor’s luncheon in Panama
The chosen place was El Nacional, a cozy place in the middle of Independence Square, known for its traditional Panamanian cuisine and unpretentious atmosphere. There, Letizia and Leonor ordered several dishes to share.
According to the restaurant staff, they arrived calmly, curious to try local flavors and with no major demands.
At their table there was no shortage of tamales or ropa vieja, two of the country’s classics that do not usually disappoint.
The visit was discreet. No one published anything at the time. For security reasons, the photos with the restaurant staff were only shared the following day.
The excitement of the staff was evident. In their social media, they described the experience as a historic moment and a source of pride, and were grateful that the queen and princess had stopped by.
Hours earlier, Letizia had welcomed her eldest daughter with a long hug at the port, shortly before the gala aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano.
Still wearing the clothes from the reunion -white pants, basic T-shirt and open denim shirt-, the queen showed up at the restaurant without changing. Leonor, for her part, still wore her impeccable white uniform.
The experience, according to what they say, was warm, close and without unnecessary protocols.
