The State Visit of the King and Queen of Spain to the Netherlands has entered its third day, and the activities carried out by Queen Letizia and Queen Máxima have been in the spotlight.

From their shared interest in mental health to their time at the Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival, both monarchs have starred in an agenda packed with engagements.

After the gala dinner the night before, the King and Queen of Spain separated to fulfill their respective commitments.

While King Felipe VI attended to business in The Hague, Queen Letizia accompanied Queen Máxima in two activities of great relevance.

The first one took place at Lab6, a place that offers free activities for young people with mental health problems.

This is a project of Mind Us, an organization chaired by Queen Máxima, who has been described as the “mother of the foundation”.

Both Letizia and the Dutch queen participated actively, asking questions and reflecting on the importance of this type of center.

It is worth noting that both Letizia Ortiz and Máxima Zorreguieta are particularly aware of mental health, having both lost their sisters to suicide.

Erika Ortiz took her own life in 2007 when she was 31 years old and Inés Zorreguieta did so at 33 in 2018.

This tragic event has led them to become fervent advocates of this cause.

After the visit to Lab6, the two monarchs went to the Tuschinski Theater to attend the colloquium of the film ‘Campeonex’, as part of the tenth anniversary of the Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival.

Received like true stars, Queen Letizia and Queen Máxima took their seats amidst the applause and cheers of the audience.

At the colloquium were prominent personalities from the world of cinema, such as the director of the film, Javier Fesser, and directors of Dutch entities related to the seventh art.

After the event, the queens attended a small reception organized by the festival organizers.

On the third day of this state visit to the Netherlands, the agenda of Queen Letizia and Queen Máxima was marked by their commitment to mental health and support for Spanish cinema, demonstrating once again their dedication to causes of great social relevance.
