King Felipe VI has embarked on his first international trip of the year this weekend.
Specifically, the monarch will be in Guatemala to attend the inauguration of President-elect César Arévalo.
Meanwhile, Queen Letizia has been left alone in Spain, as her daughters Leonor and Sofia continue their studies. How will the Queen make the most of these days of solitude?
What Queen Letizia will do alone in Spain?
Queen Letizia’s schedule has had a quiet start this 2024, with only three public events to date.
However, King Felipe has already been forced to head to Central America to fulfill his institutional obligations.
This absence of the monarch coincides with Princess Leonor being at the military academy in Zaragoza and Infanta Sofia at the UWC in Wales.
Letizia has shown over the years her facet of an independent and family woman, very close especially to her mother, Paloma Rocasolano.
Although she has always been careful to keep her private life discreet, it would not be surprising if she takes advantage of these days to meet with her sister Telma Ortiz, or with some friends.
She could also resume the habit she had of going out to eat when her daughters were still in Madrid, now perhaps in the company of her mother or sister.
And it is very likely that she will attend as a guest at some cultural event, such as book presentations or exhibition openings, given her recognized interest in these activities.
King Felipe will return to Spain on Sunday evening to be reunited with his wife and to begin a new week full of institutional events.
