In recent times, there have not been many occasions to see Queen Letizia of Spain dressed up for a cocktail event. However, this Thursday, she shined with a memorable look at the ABC Journalism Awards ceremony.
The Spanish consort, known for her impeccable sense of style, did not disappoint as she stepped out in a stunning white two-piece ensemble.
This ensemble, which is actually an artfully designed dress, she paired to perfection with elegant gold Aquazzura sandals and two exquisite pieces from the historic collection.
Queen Letizia’s Style at the 2024 ABC Journalism Awards
On Thursday night, King Felipe and Queen Letizia arrived at the new headquarters of the Spanish newspaper ABC to present the prestigious Mariano de Cavia, Luca de Tena and Mingote Awards.
For this special evening, the Queen debuted a unique trompe l’oeil dress by Self Portrait, a favorite brand of many royals, including Kate Middleton and recently Princess Leonor, who wore a navy blue lace design by the same firm at the Princess of Girona Awards.
Letizia’s dress features a sleeveless bouclé top, adorned with four pockets with jewel buttons – two on the chest and two on the hip – and a thin belt to accentuate the waist. The skirt was plain, A-line cut and midi length, creating an effortlessly chic silhouette.
To complement her Self Portrait dress, Queen Letizia wore new gold sandals from Italian brand Aquazzura, which she frequently chooses for her footwear.
The sandals, known as the Sundance model, have a 50-millimeter block heel, making them an ideal choice for the Queen, who continues to recover from a recent fracture in her right foot.
These sandals, made in synthetic leather with buckle straps at the ankle, have leather insole and sole, almond-shaped open toe and are made in Italy. They are available on the brand’s website for $750.
Letizia completed her look with a gold clutch from Magrit, one of her long-time favorite accessories.
Let’s not forget about the stunning jewelry, where Queen Letizia wore some of the most precious pieces.
She chose two pieces that Queen Victoria Eugenia decreed should be passed down from queen to queen.
Specifically, the mother of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia wore diamond earrings with a large central stone surrounded by smaller diamonds arranged in a floral motif.
In addition, the Queen wore one of Cartier’s twin bracelets. Originally, these bracelets were part of a Cartier tiara that Alfonso XIII gave to Victoria Eugenia as a wedding gift.
The tiara quickly went out of fashion and, after her exile, Victoria Eugenia had Cartier dismantle it to create the two bracelets from her diamonds.
Since Ena’s death, they had only been worn by Queen Sofia until Letizia wore them for the first time in February 2017.
With this act, Queen Letizia concludes her weekly schedule.
