This weekend, Queen Letizia experienced one of the most tense moments of her reign and has finally broken her silence on the situation.

Together with King Felipe, she went to Paiporta, in the region of Valencia, which has been one of the hardest hit by the heavy floods, to see the damage first-hand.

During their visit, they were accompanied by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. However, he had to leave soon, as citizens began to express their indignation by throwing mud.

It is important to note that the protest was directed towards the politician, not the king and queen, who decided to stay and listen to the people.

After this complicated episode, Queen Letizia made an appearance after an audience that King Felipe had with other people.

What did Queen Letizia say about her visit to Valencia?

The media were waiting for the start of a second audience of the monarch with the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations when she arrived.

In a close and natural tone, Letizia chatted with the journalists present and shared how shocked she felt by what had happened.

She described how she experienced the uncertainty during her visit to Paiporta.

According to the Spanish media Ok Diario, the queen expressed her deep uneasiness and, at one point, confessed to the journalists that what she had seen was “one of the worst” experiences of her life.

She also spoke about the tension felt as villagers approached them, full of reproach, reflecting the immense pain of the victims.

The Queen’s next public appearance will be on November 7. On this occasion, she will meet at La Zarzuela Palace with the Red Cross and various health associations in Spain that are providing support to the people affected by the floods, some of the most devastating in decades.
