Queen Letizia has recently revealed the treatment she is undergoing to treat her foot ailment.
During the 10th anniversary celebrations of King Felipe’s proclamation, her choice of footwear revealed that she is using therapeutic syndactyly.
What does therapeutic syndactyly involve?
According to experts, syndactyly consists of joining two fingers, the affected one together with the healthy one next to it, to promote their recovery through immobilization.
This technique is applied in both hands and feet, adapted according to the specific diagnosis.
Treatment and Recovery Details
Since suffering a fracture in the proximal phalanx of the middle toe of her right foot due to a domestic accident a few weeks ago, the Queen has opted to wear closed shoes, such as ballerinas and sneakers.
However, with the arrival of summer and the rising temperatures, it has been possible to observe in greater detail the bandage used.
During the day, Letizia Ortiz opted for gold flat sandals by Aquazzura, while at night she wore an elegant outfit for Ara Malikian’s recital in the Plaza de Oriente.
In both cases, the bandage was visible, showing how the Queen is recovering.
The Recovery
Although rest and treatment has been recommended, Letizia has decided to maintain her schedule of activities, adapting with appropriate footwear even at official events and galas.
This approach is crucial to ensure proper healing of the fracture, which could require several weeks according to medical indications.
