Queen Letizia of Spain gave a speech at the United Nations to talk about rare diseases.
But she did it telematically with a speech of just over two minutes.
The wife of King Felipe VI recorded the video from the hall in the Zarzuela Palace, which has large windows that give an incredible view of the gardens.
Letizia spoke as honorary president of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases, a cause to which she is very committed.
Queen Letizia’s speech at the United Nations.
The Queen of Spain’s speech addressed the importance of a WHO resolution promoting universal health care for people with rare diseases and stressed the need for a joint commitment from countries to address this challenge more effectively.
She stressed that this is a crucial moment, as rare diseases are beginning to gain recognition on the health agenda and influence decision-making.
She also mentioned that there are significant challenges related to rare diseases as they vary by country and their specific needs.
Letizia avoided describing in detail the difficulties of people with rare diseases, such as their high mortality or complications in daily life but stressed that a WHO resolution would commit member countries to collaborate and share their existing initiatives to achieve greater equity in the treatment of these diseases.
Queen Letizia’s styling
The detail that some observers did not notice is that from the outfit worn by Queen Letizia in the video, it can be inferred that the video was recorded on September 7.
On that day the consort resumed her institutional functions after the summer vacations.
On that occasion, Letizia attended the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas to present the UNICEF Spain Awards, an event she presided over as honorary president.
That day she wore the same outfit she appeared in the video: a pink suit by designer Hugo Boss. She also wore a white Carolina Herrera blouse, Isabel Abdo nude low-heeled shoes, and Doble Daga earrings by Gold & Roses.
