Queen Maxima’s Style in the Philippines: Three Incredible Changes

    22 May, 2024

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands is always on the go with her international duties.

Recently, she traveled to the Philippines as a special advocate for inclusive finance for the United Nations.

Her visits follow a unique routine: she spends the first few days visiting local communities to understand their needs, and then she meets with government officials to discuss solutions.

    Arrival in Manila

When Queen Máxima arrived in Manila, she kept her look simple and practical.

She wore a black pantsuit with a blazer she often wears for her UN duties, paired with culotte pants. She didn’t wear makeup and her hair was natural.

She also wore comfortable, two-tone flat shoes, called ‘Manhattan’ from the Spanish brand Toral.

These shoes, with camel and black tones, are available only at the Paul Warmer store in Amsterdam and cost around US$200.

    Visiting the Talim Island

Next, Queen Máxima visited Talim Island to meet with a fishing community and visit a local ‘sari-sari’ store, which sells everyday items.

For this, she chose a light dress called ‘Axelle’ by Vanessa Seward in collaboration with Bloom Paris, priced at US$200.

This dress is a favorite for tropical climates and she wore it previously during a visit to Tanzania in 2022.

She paired the dress with handmade raffia sandals from Carrie Forbes and a camel-toned hat with a dark ribbon. The hat had to be removed due to the wind.

She also carried a special handbag from LH Tejidos, made by women in Loma Hermosa, Argentina, as a nod to her birthplace.

    Meeting with Authorities

On her last day in Manila, Queen Máxima wore her most formal outfit.

She chose a white peplum top with floral embroidery and a pink pencil skirt from the Belgian brand Natan, a look she first wore in 2013. She had the skirt lengthened to keep up with current fashion trends.

Máxima completed her outfit with Gianvito Rossi heels and a matching clutch. Her jewelry included pearl and diamond pieces: long earrings, a brooch on her top, and a matching ring.

Queen Máxima’s visit to the Philippines shows her dedication to her role and her thoughtful approach to fashion, balancing practicality with elegance throughout her trip.
