Queen Maxima of the Netherlands once again demonstrated her unmistakable elegance as she received the 2024 Olympic medalists at the Huis ten Bosch Palace, making it clear that recycling fashion can also be an act of style.
After the thrilling closing of the Olympic Games in Paris, where the Netherlands won a total of 34 medals, the athletes were honored at a warm reception led by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
Queen Maxima’s Vintage Fashion
For this special occasion, Maxima chose a taupe midi dress that she had not worn in almost ten years.
This Natan design, which was a favorite in her closet between 2013 and 2014, stands out for its cinched waist, enhanced with a red patent leather belt, and its high neckline, which adds a touch of sophistication.
The queen complemented her outfit with elegant red peep-toe heels and gold earrings, reaffirming her status as one of Europe’s best-dressed monarchs.
This dress, not seen since 2015, was usually accompanied with accessories in reddish tones such as clutches or pamelas, but on this occasion she opted for a simpler look, keeping the freshness and style that characterizes her.
During the ceremony, King Willem-Alexander took the floor to express his gratitude for the effort and dedication of the medalists, while Maxima listened with a proud smile.
The reception concluded with the traditional photograph on the outer steps of the palace, where the kings and the athletes posed together.
The Dutch royal family showed a level of commitment to the Olympic Games similar to that of the Spanish royal family. Both the King and Queen and their daughter, Princess Amalia, traveled to Paris to support their country’s athletes, making clear their enthusiasm and pride in the achievements of their compatriots.
