Queen Emerita Sofia has once again taken a prominent place in the agenda of the Spanish Royal House and has traveled to the province of Burgos to participate in several events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Atapuerca Foundation.
On Wednesday evening she attended a concert organized for the occasion and on Thursday she visited the famous archaeological site in person.
Her attire was casual and practical, with comfortable footwear: Sketchers sneakers.
Queen Sofía’s Casual Look in Burgos
Queen Sofia, who usually opts for more formal footwear and comfortable heels for her public appearances, opted for a sporty look.
The nature of the visit, which included exploring caves and grottoes, made sneakers a wise choice.
Sofia of Greece chose a pair from Sketchers, a brand known for its “athletic and lifestyle footwear and apparel for men, women and children, replete with innovative comfort technologies,” according to its website.
Specifically, Queen Emeritus wore the Go Walk model, designed to resemble moccasins.
It is a laceless shoe, which incorporates a removable insole for extra cushioning and technology to better support the foot.
It should be noted that these sneakers are made with 100% vegan materials. Priced at $80, they are available on the brand’s website.
Queen Sofia paired her Sketchers sneakers with khaki pants, an oversized linen blouse with ethnic print and a scarf tied around her neck.
During her visit on Thursday, Queen Sofia explored the Cueva Mayor, located in the upper part of the Sierra de Atapuerca.
The visit continued to the Cueva Fantasma site and concluded at the Sima del Elefante Cave.
This commitment is part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Atapuerca Foundation.
The Queen Sofia Foundation has signed a collaboration agreement with the Atapuerca Foundation for the creation of a laboratory within the “Emiliano Aguirre Research Center”.
This laboratory will play a crucial role in scientific research and the dissemination of knowledge about human evolution and the conservation and protection of the cultural heritage represented by the Sierra de Atapuerca.
