Queen Emeritus Sofia of Spain, 84, brought autumnal fashion to the sunny climes of Malaga this week.
The mother of King Felipe made her appearance in the coastal city on Thursday, September 21, to attend the II International Congress on Research and Innovation in Neurodegenerative Diseases, coinciding with World Alzheimer’s Day.
After taking a well-deserved vacation this summer in Mallorca and Greece, the Queen resumed her official duties in a sophisticated style.
Queen Sofia’s outfit in Malaga
Despite the sunny weather in Malaga, Queen Sofia opted for an autumnal outfit for her day out.
The standout piece was an elegant pinstripe blazer with wide lapels, front pockets, and jeweled button details.
She paired it with a yellow blouse for a pop of color. The vertical stripes and the yellow blouse formed a striking yet elegant combination.
The sophisticated print is versatile enough to work all year round.
The neutral stripes also act as a great canvas for bolder pieces.
Always classic, the Queen completed her professional look with simple straight pants and navy blue low-heeled shoes.
As accessories, she wore delicate earrings and her signature bracelets. A small black handbag with a chain and metallic ornaments.

During her busy day in Malaga, Queen Sofia greeted several personalities and received a standing ovation upon her arrival at the Edgar Neville Auditorium.
There she met with the organizers of the Alzheimer’s research congress to learn about the progress being made, as the foundation she presides over has long supported this important cause.
While Queen Letizia is usually in the limelight these days, Queen Emeritus maintains a limited but constant agenda focused on her passions such as the fight against Alzheimer’s.
Next month she will join King Felipe and Queen Letizia at the Princess of Asturias Awards, where she will likely dazzle again in her autumn-inspired ensembles.
