Queen Sofia of Spain has reappeared in the public sphere after her recent hospitalization, attending the 36th World Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) in Krakow, Poland.
Her presence at this important event demonstrates her unwavering commitment to the Alzheimer’s cause and her speedy recovery after overcoming a urinary tract infection.
Queen Sofia at the World Alzheimer’s Conference
The 84-year-old emeritus queen was discharged last April 13 after spending four days in Madrid’s Ruber clinic due to a urinary tract infection.
During her hospital stay, she received warm support from her family, including visits from her son, King Felipe VI, her daughter-in-law, Queen Letizia, her daughter, Infanta Elena, and her sister, Princess Irene.
Just weeks after her medical discharge, Queen Sofia demonstrated her unwavering commitment to Alzheimer’s cause by traveling to Krakow to participate in the 36th ADI World Conference.
This event brings together experts from around the world to share knowledge, innovations, and inspirations around dementia.
At the conference, Queen Sofia was reunited with an old friend, Princess Muna of Jordan, mother of King Abdullah and mother-in-law of Queen Rania.
Both women share a deep interest in the fight against Alzheimer’s and have been named ADI Honorary Ambassadors in previous years.
During her participation in the conference, Queen Sofia stressed the importance of addressing Alzheimer’s globally.
“I am committed to advocating for a global response to dementia. Having witnessed first-hand the challenges in healthcare, I know how important it is to highlight these issues globally. The ADI conference is a critical opportunity to discuss the role of these new developments along with care and support. We need examples of best practice and innovation from around the world,” said the monarch.
Queen Sofia’s reappearance at this international event has been widely celebrated, not only for her speedy recovery but also for her continued commitment to such an important cause as Alzheimer’s disease.
Queen Sofia’s style in Poland
Queen Sofia has chosen a spring style with an ethnic-inspired jacket in shades of green as the protagonist.
The jacket, made in tweed with a flattering print, combined it perfectly with wide pants and a satin blouse in turquoise.
To ward off the cold, she added a matching scarf and suede booties, providing comfort to face the day.
