On June 9, 1999, King Abdullah I assumed the throne of Jordan following the death of his father, Hussein I. Since then, he has been accompanied by Rania, his wife, who has been a constant figure in his life.

Now, 25 years later, the Hashemite royal family has decided to commemorate their leader’s Silver Jubilee with a new official portrait of the couple.

In the official image, the sovereigns are seen standing, framed by the Jordanian flag and the royal standard.

King Abdullah poses in military uniform, a sash, a star and the collar of the Order of Ali-Hussein bin Ali, the kingdom’s highest distinction.

Meanwhile, Queen Rania wears an elegant black ball gown with a side slit, boat neckline and short sleeves. She also wears her gold and diamond crown brooch with five bows and four rubies at the base, as well as the Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali.

It is poignant to recall that the first time Rania wore a tiara was 25 years ago.

Today, her jewelry collection is extensive, and for this occasion, the queen chose a tiara commissioned by the king from FRED jewelry in 2005.

The crown is adorned with 1,300 diamonds and seven pendant stones, with a stunning 20-carat pear-shaped diamond as the centerpiece.

This was not the only post in honor of the anniversary.

Rania shared a video recapping Abdullah’s reign, showing images of the couple at various events over the years.

“You were crowned King on the throne of our hearts. Congratulations on this Jubilee,” he warmly expressed.

A party was held this weekend to commemorate Abdullah’s Silver Jubilee.

In anticipation of the event, the official account of the Royal House published a video showing the preparations in the city of Amman.

Military, tanks, floats and dancers, every detail was meticulously prepared.

The jubilee celebrations began earlier this year. The Crown organized various activities to highlight the image and dedication of the monarch throughout these six months.

One of the most praised aspects has been the king’s efforts to modernize the country in the 21st century.

The first act of this year of celebrations was the visit to the tomb of his father, Hussein I, buried the same day Abdullah ascended to the throne. Then, the flag was raised in the courtyard of the Raghadan Palace together with the Hashemite Royal Court and family members, marking the beginning of the jubilee.
