The Spanish Royal Family is preparing for a reunion full of emotion and symbolism, especially important for His Majesty King Felipe VI.
This Saturday, May 4, the General Military Academy of Zaragoza will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Promotion of the Army, an event that will bring together King Felipe, Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor.
The importance of this event lies in the fact that the monarch is a member of this promotion, which gives a personal note to the celebration.
Reunion of King Felipe and Princess Leonor
According to Heraldo de Aragón, Princess Leonor, who is currently studying at the General Academy, will not only attend as a member of the royal family, but also as a cadet, taking part in military training on the parade ground.
This detail highlights the Princess’s link with the military institution, which was previously reflected when she was sworn in at the same place on October 7, in a ceremony presided over by her parents, Felipe and Letizia.
The Princess of Asturias was 17 years old at the time, the same age as King Felipe when he took his first oath of allegiance in October 1985, shortly after entering the Academy.
This year, the King will have the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the Armed Forces by renewing his oath to the flag, this time as monarch, an act he already performed in 2010, but then as Prince of Asturias.
The ceremony at the General Military Academy is one of the few events scheduled for the week, highlighting the visit of Queen Letizia to Zaragoza on May 4.
For his part, King Felipe VI will participate in several public events, maintaining his institutional agenda.
