Two years ago today, on September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at 6:30 a.m. British time.
Buckingham Palace broke the news through the BBC, marking the end of the longest reign in the history of the British monarchy and the second longest in the history of European monarchies, surpassed only by Louis XIV of France, who spent 72 years on the throne while Elizabeth reigned for 70 years.
The last public appearance of the Queen took place on September 6, when she received Liz Truss at Balmoral, an engagement that would become historic. Her commitment and dedication to her country have left an indelible mark on the collective memory.
