According to Deadline, the life of the father of King Felipe of Spain will be brought to the screen by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, producer of other successful series such as 24 and Homeland.

The audiovisual will be an adaptation of the XRey audio series by Alvaro de Cózar and Toni Garrido, one of the most listened to on Spotify during 2020.
“Those who know me are aware of my fascination with Spain: its people, its history, its culture. And few stories from the twentieth century have captivated me more than the life of King Juan Carlos I,” said Howard Gordon.
Howard hopes the series will have several seasons and replicate the monarchical success of other royal series like the popular The Crown.
