Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, captivated everyone at Buckingham Palace’s state banquet, showcasing one of Kate Middleton’s most cherished tiaras.
On June 25, the 59-year-old Duchess dazzled in the Lotus Flower Tiara during the grand diplomatic dinner, held to honor Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan on their state visit to the UK.
Sophie Shines in Lotus Tiara at State Banquet
This occasion marked Sophie’s debut in the Lotus Flower Tiara, adding to her impressive royal jewelry collection.
Prince Edward’s wife has previously been seen in two aquamarine tiaras and her exquisite all-diamond wedding tiara, which features four detachable diamond anthemions believed to be sourced from one of Queen Victoria’s crowns.
The Lotus Flower Tiara, a favorite of Princess Kate, was last worn by her at the Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace in December 2022.
However, Kate, the Princess of Wales, was not present at the June 25 banquet as she continues her chemotherapy treatment.
Complementing her tiara, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore Queen Elizabeth’s Pear-Shaped Diamond Drop Suite.
On June 26, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will join the Emperor and Empress for a banquet at the Guildhall, organized by the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation.
Edward and Sophie, among the actively working royals, have maintained their full schedules despite the reduced duties of King Charles and Princess Kate due to their cancer treatments.
