Amid the controversy surrounding the British royal family over the revelations in Omid Scobie’s book, members of the family continued with their official engagements.
King Charles decided to travel to the United Arab Emirates to attend a major climate summit, while Prince William and his wife Kate hosted Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Daniel Westling.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, paid an official visit to Colombia and attended the Mostra de Moda-Paz-Sostenibilidad to see the work of designers who have been affected by the armed conflict in the South American country, including former Colombian guerrilla fighters and survivors.

While in Colombia, the Duchess opted for a different and eye-catching outfit, wearing a dark blue printed Vitali linen dress by Zimmerman and paired it with a pair of cotton High Catalina espadrilles by Penelope Chilvers.

However, this particular outfit received some criticism from royal fans.
- “This dress deserves better shoes”.
- “Not crazy about these shoes with the dress.”
- “Looks oversized and frumpy, sorry…and those shoes need to be banished back to 2007!”
- “Why does she always wear summer shoes?”
- “So sorry Sophie. I love you, but not the dress”.
- “Too big and busy”
- “Can someone tell her to stop wearing espadrilles?”
- “What is it with these shoes that British royals insist on wearing?”
These were some of the comments read on social media.

However, there were other designs that were very well received and praised. Sophie also wore some flattering designs that the Royal Fashion Police Instagram account was dedicated to collecting.
Overall, Sophie of Edinburgh’s visit to Colombia left a positive impression, despite a few fashion mishaps along the way.
