Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died on April 9, 2021, just a month shy of his 100th birthday, left Sophie of Wessex a particular job.
For many years, Queen Elizabeth‘s husband was at the head of at least 992 organizations, related to science and technology, youth welfare, education, conservation, environment, sport and in which he served as president, sponsor, honorary member, among others.
One of those has to do with his military career as he was chief colonel of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) for more than 50 years, that same job will now fall into the hands of the Countess of Wessex.
Sophie, the wife of Prince Edward, was appointed this week as the new chief colonel of (REME), one of the positions to which the duke was particularly committed.
The announcement was made official on April 30 via the British royal family’s social media. Queen Elizabeth’s daughter in law made her debut in the position by attending a special meeting with representatives of that military body. For her new job she chose to wear a burgundy dress with long sleeves and midi cut. She combined it with jewelry and for her styling she wore her hair in a half updo.
