Spanish King and Queen’s agenda in Paris
On July 25, they will host a reception for the Spanish athletes who will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, officially recognized as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.
Paris, along with London, is one of the few cities to have hosted the Olympic Games three times, after the 1900 and 1924 editions. This event marks the centenary of the last Olympic Games held in the French capital.
As reported by the Spanish Royal Household, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia and Queen Sofia are scheduled to travel to Paris to support Spanish athletes by attending various competitions.
In principle, the King and Queen will travel to Paris on Thursday, where they are scheduled to attend a reception at the Embassy of Spain to the Spanish Olympic team participating in these games.
That same evening, Felipe and Letizia will attend a dinner hosted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Louvre Museum, which will serve to prepare for the sporting event, which will start on Friday and will last until August 11.
On Friday, the Royals will attend a reception hosted that evening at the Elysee Palace by French President Emmanuel Macron for dignitaries visiting the French capital for the start of the Olympic Games.
Finally, both will attend the opening ceremony at the ‘Place du Trocadéro’.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium, but will take place on the Seine River, where delegations will parade aboard boats.
The parade will conclude on the square, where the final part of the spectacle will take place.
