This Sunday, August 4, the Spanish Royal Family surprised the press and the residents of Palma de Mallorca with an unexpected family outing.

In their first full gathering of the summer, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, Queen Sofia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia coincided at the Marivent Palace, their vacation retreat on the Balearic island.

The occasion was especially significant. After the media hangover from the award ceremony of the Copa del Rey Mapfre, presided over by Felipe VI himself, who also participated in the competition aboard Aifos, the family decided to go out to dinner to celebrate their long-awaited reunion and second place in the regatta.

With smiles and enthusiasm, they posed in front of the cameras, showing closeness and affection for each other and for those present.

Once again, the royal family chose the Mía Restaurant, located in the port of Palma de Mallorca and directed by the renowned chef Guillermo Cabot.

There they enjoyed a varied menu specializing in rice dishes and fresh fish, with highlights such as sautéed squid with sobrasada, lobster, sea bass ceviche with strawberries and the unique Russian salad with pickled red mullet.

This summer has been atypical for the Royal Family due to their constant presence at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Queen Letizia returned less than 24 hours ago from a week of official agenda in the City of Light.

Felipe VI will travel tomorrow to continue with the institutional representation, after his daughters already did so between July 26 and 31.

Queen Sofia, for her part, traveled to Greece on Thursday to pay her last farewell to Prince Michael. Her stay in Athens was brief, returning to Spain in a Falcon a few hours after the funeral.

This dinner was the seventh public event for the Royal Family since their arrival in Mallorca in mid-July, including the reception at Marivent, Queen Letizia’s attendance at the closing gala of the Atlantida Film Fest and the King’s continued regattas in the Copa del Rey Mapfre, among others.

The Royal Family’s stay in Mallorca will always be synonymous with endearing poses, disconnection plans, official acts and moments of freedom at sea, always sought after by the press.

Finally, once the Olympic Games are over on August 11, the Royal Family will begin their private vacation.

Thus, the King and Queen will be able to say goodbye to their daughters in private before Princess Leonor enters the Naval School of Marin on August 29 and the Infanta Sofia resumes her last course at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales in early September.
