After the celebration of the Military Epiphany, a solemn event presided over by the Spanish royal family every January 6, a more intimate and traditional moment followed: a gathering at the home of Jesús Ortiz, Queen Letizia’s father.
This afternoon, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, were seen arriving at Ortiz’s residence to share the traditional “Roscón de Reyes”, a Christmas pastry enjoyed by many families in Spain.
Spanish Royals’ Epiphany
Captured by the Spanish press, the images showed the royal family arriving with the intent of exchanging gifts and enjoying family time.
It is an event that the King and Queen and their daughters rarely miss, although last year, Infanta Sofia could not attend due to her academic commitments, leaving only Princess Leonor present.
Each afternoon on January 6, the press patiently awaits the arrival of the royal family. Aware of this, Felipe and Letizia greeted the gathered media outside Ortiz’s home.
Earlier in the day, around noon, the King, Queen, and Princess Leonor had presided over the Military Epiphany in the Courtyard of the Royal Palace.
Leonor, dressed in the Navy’s gala uniform, accompanied her parents at this official event. However, by the afternoon, the focus shifted to the private family gathering.
This year’s Kings’ Day gathering was even more special with the presence of Telma Ortiz, Queen Letizia’s sister, and her partner, the Irishman Robert Gavin Bonnar.
Also joining the celebration was Paloma Rocasolano, Queen Letizia’s mother, who arrived alone in her car.
