In the gardens of Marivent, the annual reception held by the King and Queen for Balearic society provided an image worthy of the institutional album this year, with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía sharing the limelight with naturalness, confidence, and a closeness that was much talked about among the guests.
It was the first time that the two sisters had participated together in this event, and also the first time that Sofía had joined the event.
They did not just accompany their parents, but moved freely around the cocktail party, chatting with different attendees and making it clear that the new generation of the Crown is more than ready for what lies ahead.
A few steps away, Queen Emeritus Sofía also attracted attention. Visibly moved and surrounded by her granddaughters, she joined this event during a particularly difficult summer for her, marked by the delicate health of her sister, Princess Irene.
Despite her fatigue, she did not want to miss this last official event on the island and remained standing for over an hour before asking for a chair to rest.
The Spanish royal family welcomed 600 guests to this event.
Among them, the big surprise was Rafa Nadal, who was attending this reception for the first time and experiencing his first public meeting with the King and Queen since the monarch granted him the title of Marquis of Llevant.
The atmosphere was relaxed from the start. The Royal Household relaxed the dress code for men to adapt to the August heat, and Felipe himself appeared in a white guayabera shirt, matching the cool, summery outfits of his daughters and the Queen.
Queen Letizia once again opted for local fashion, wearing an Ibizan dress by designer Tony Bonet and earrings by Isabel Guarch.
Leonor wore a Desigual design that her mother had worn for the first time at this same reception in 2023, and Sofía wore a Zara outfit, reflecting a carefree elegance.
The event was a feast of Mallorcan flavors, with dishes such as Porreres dried apricots with suckling pig and sweet potato churros with chocolate.
The evening was a flavorful finale, marking the end of the institutional summer of the King and Queen and their daughters in Palma.
