Following the conclusion of the Copa del Rey Mapfre, the Spanish royal family once again honored one of those traditions that have become a staple of summer in Mallorca.
King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofía, and Queen Sofía gathered for dinner at the Mia restaurant in Portixol.
The choice of restaurant was also no surprise. Mia, run by Mallorcan chef Guillermo Cabot, has become one of the royal family’s favorite spots during their stays on the island. In fact, the King and Queen were already regulars at the chef’s restaurant when he was running Ola del Mar, so this dinner felt like a reunion with a familiar place.
For Felipe, it also marked the end of a few rather intense days. The King made a quick trip to Colombia to attend the inauguration of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella before returning to Mallorca.
And once back on the island, there was still a special moment ahead. The King presided over the Copa del Rey Mapfre awards ceremony and celebrated Hispania’s runner-up finish in the ABANCA ORC 0 category. He then headed to Portixol to join his family. A dinner that, beyond the food, offers another of those family moments that often define the Bourbons’ summer in Mallorca.
