Netflix today, October 26, unveiled the exciting new trailer for the critically acclaimed series “The Crown,” which will premiere on November 16.
This teaser will be the last before the release of the season, which will be divided into two parts, with the final installment hitting our screens on December 14.
The first part of the season will consist of four episodes and will focus on the tragic events surrounding the death of Princess Diana.
The Crown Trailer season 6
In the trailer, we can see how the last weeks of the beloved princess, played masterfully by actress Elizabeth Debicki, are reviewed.
It also addresses the excessive popularity of the princess, “I’m afraid, your Majesty, that interest in the princess’ private life is unlikely to die down anytime soon”, one of the actors in the series is heard to say.
Another shocking moment in the trailer shows Queen Elizabeth telling Princess Diana, “You’ve finally succeeded in turning this house upside down,” prompting the Princess of Wales to reply, “That was never my intention.”
Diana’s tragic death occurred in a car accident on August 31, 1997, after being chased by photographers in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris.
Series creator Peter Morgan revealed in an interview with Variety magazine that he was afraid to include Diana in the story and even considered avoiding her altogether, adding that the accident will not be shown on screen.
“Feared writing Princess Diana into the series and even considered avoiding her entirely,” he said.
The Crown actress dies
Sadly, the impending premiere of the series was overshadowed by the death of one of the actresses in the cast.
Talented British actress Haydn Gwynne passed away on October 20, surrounded by family and close friends, after a battle with cancer that had been diagnosed months earlier, the BBC reported.
Gwynne, 66, played the role of Susan Hussey on The Crown. Hussey was Queen Elizabeth II’s lady-in-waiting and Prince William’s godmother.
Although this was not her first fictional approach to the British royal family, Gwynne also played current Queen Camilla in all four seasons of the parody sitcom “The Windsors.
