Although from Buckingham Palace it is likely that a response to the confessions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the documentary ‘Harry and Meghan’ will never come, the truth is that not everyone involved is willing to remain silent. Such is the case of Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father, who came out to give his opinion on the audiovisual.
Markle, who has spent a few months trying to overcome his health problems, broke his silence and spoke to the Mail on Sunday to refute some of the alleged conversations he had with his daughter, days before her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018.
What did Thomas Markle have to say about Harry and Meghan’s documentary?
Thomas, 78, confessed to the British newspaper that some of his daughter’s statements are not true, especially those that point out that she doubted about whether it was her father with whom she spoke by text message.
Thomas assured that he wrote every word from his phone which he still keeps in his possession.
“I wrote that text while I was lying in a hospital bed after having two heart attacks and having stents put in,” said the Duchess’ father.
In the documentary, Meghan was unsure if she was actually talking to her father as he referred to her as “Meghan” instead of “Meg,” something Thomas says is explained.
According to Mr. Markle, when things were very serious and there was a problem with his daughter, he has always used the full name “Meghan.”
“I wasn’t angry. I was in the hospital. They never asked me how I was doing. When I got her messages, I was upset.”
On the controversial collaboration with the paparazzi Meghan’s father apologized and assured that he never received any money.
Thomas questioned the documentary assuring that the Sussex are doing what he was forbidden to do: talk.
“I think what they’re doing now is far worse than anything he’s ever done.”
According to Harry’s words, his wife was left “fatherless” because of their relationship, but Thomas stressed that he will always be there for his daughter. He said he keeps her same phone number, still lives in the same house and would love to meet his grandchildren.
“I love my daughter and always will,” he punctuated.
