Meghan Markle is back at the center of the conversation, and this time not because of one of her new projects, but because of what, according to royal expert, she hasn’t finished doing.
Tina Brown, renowned journalist and author of several books on the royals, spoke unfiltered about the duchess in a recent podcast.
Tina Brown criticizes Meghan Markle
But what did she say? Brown said that Meghan’s work strategy has no head or tail, that she launches projects like someone who changes the channel, and that it is difficult for her to focus on just one.
For Brown, Meghan is stuck in a kind of race against no one, announcing ideas that she then fails to realize. “I’m gonna do a cooking show! Nah – I’m going to be a podcaster. And hello, hello, I’ve got a beauty line!” she commented, pointing out that this urge to be in everything ends up detracting from her credibility.
“Just do one of those things, do it really well, and then do something else,” Brown added.
The criticism comes just as Meghan has just launched several products under her lifestyle brand As Ever, premiered a new series on Netflix, opened a digital store and hosted an entrepreneurial-sounding podcast.
All in just a few weeks. The glut of announcements has generated a sense of more noise than results.
Tina Brown goes further. She believes Meghan is looking to become some sort of inspirational figure in the style of Beyoncé or Michelle Obama, but without having built a solid foundation like them. And that, she says, ends up playing against her.
He also pointed out that Markle doesn’t listen to advice. He claims he’s had access to experts willing to guide her, but gets frustrated because she seems receptive at first and then does something else.
According to Brown, many of those advisers have lost interest in continuing to try.
While the journalist acknowledges that Meghan has strength as an influencer – every garment she wears sells out – she believes the lack of direction has left her personal brand lacking consistency.
