Tina Brown, a well-known royal biographer, recently shared her thoughts on Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle, and her comments were far from flattering.
In an interview on The Ankler podcast, Brown compared Harry’s situation to that of his late mother, Princess Diana, borrowing a phrase she famously used to describe herself: a “lamb to the slaughter.”
Brown believes Harry has been blindly following Meghan’s lead, much like a child looking up to a trusted adult.

According to Brown, Meghan convinced Harry that she had the savvy and connections to turn them into global stars. She painted herself as a Hollywood power player, but Brown argues that Meghan’s judgment has often been poor.
She didn’t hold back, saying Meghan “has the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world,” adding that while Meghan is a perfectionist, it’s in getting things wrong.
Brown’s critique didn’t stop at their professional decisions. She pointed out the fallout from Harry’s memoir Spare, which was met with ridicule when it was released in January 2023.
Their Spotify deal also collapsed later that year. However, the couple does have new projects in the works, including collaborations with Netflix and Meghan’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
Despite these ventures, Brown remains skeptical. She noted that every time it seems like Meghan is getting back on track, something derails her progress.
Brown referenced Meghan’s recent signing with the Hollywood talent agency WME as an example of a promising move, but she quickly added that Meghan’s biggest issue is not listening to advice.
Brown explained that Meghan frequently asks for input but then disregards it entirely, choosing to do things her own way. This, in Brown’s view, leads to one failure after another. She bluntly said that Meghan’s ideas often turn out to be disasters.
As for Harry, Brown painted him as somewhat naive, remarking that his life in the royal bubble left him inexperienced in basic tasks, like booking a restaurant table. She did, however, credit the army for helping him grow as a person, saying it shaped him into a competent individual. Yet, she lamented that in his relationship with Meghan, Harry is once again in a vulnerable position, calling him a “lamb to the slaughter.”
Brown’s choice of words harks back to Princess Diana’s own description of her marriage to Charles in Andrew Morton’s 1992 book Diana: Her True Story. Diana had said she felt like a lamb to the slaughter on the eve of her wedding, fully aware of what was coming but powerless to stop it.
While the dynamics between Diana and Charles were shaped by their age difference and Charles’s role as the heir to the throne, Brown argues that in Harry and Meghan’s case, Meghan convinced Harry of her superior professional skills.
However, Brown believes Meghan has now exhausted her opportunities, leaving Harry in a precarious situation.
Despite the criticism, Brown thinks Harry still has a chance to turn things around due to his royal status. She said, “He’ll always be Prince Harry, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and the son of Diana.” No matter what happens, those titles can’t be taken from him. As for Meghan, Brown seems less optimistic, unsure of where she will go from here.
