Six weeks after Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery, prompting her withdrawal from royal duties, a little is known about her recovery.
This 27 Febraury, a source close to the palace has offered a sparse update to People magazine that she is “doing well.”
Update on Kate Middleton’s health
The latest news from the Palace comes after William declined to deliver a speech at the funeral for his late godfather, King Constantine of Greece, citing a “personal matter” as the reason for his last-minute decision.
This new update seemed intended to quell speculation about her health condition, including a claim by a Spanish journalist that Kate Middleton was in an induced coma.
With the lack of specificity or visual evidence, the British royal family risks fueling rumors if it maintains the information vacuum.
Abdominal surgery and Kate Middleton’s recovery
Eight days after her 42nd birthday, Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton underwent “planned abdominal surgery.”
The princess had been hospitalized on Jan. 16 but it was on Jan. 17 that the palace announcement came:
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery.”
In the same statement it was reported that Kate would return to her duties after Easter.
Immediately Prince William postponed some engagements to support and be by his wife Kate’s side.
On January 29, Princess Catherine was discharged from hospital.
“The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.
This February 27, almost a month after the Princess of Wales was discharged from hospital, there is another terse update on her health.
An update that comes just after William made a last-minute decision not to attend the memorial service in honor of her godfather, King Constantine of Greece.
