Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has been out of the public eye as she recovers from recent abdominal surgery and a cancer diagnosis.
She is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
When will Princess Kate return to work?
A royal aide shared that Kate will not return to her duties until her doctors give her the ‘green light.’
The palace has confirmed this statement. “She needs the space and privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when doctors approve,” the aide told MailOnline.
This news comes as Kate was recognized as the ‘driving force’ behind a new report encouraging businesses to adopt more family-friendly working practices, which she plans to focus on once she returns.
The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, which Kate leads, released a significant report.
This report claims that investing in early childhood could add over £45.5 billion to the national economy each year.
The aide emphasized Kate’s role, saying, “The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the business task force. She has been updated regularly since the task force began, has read the report, and has been briefed on it. This reflects her lifelong commitment to focusing on early childhood, a focus that will continue when she returns to work.”
A spokesman from Kensington Palace added, “The princess will not return to work until her medical team clears her.” He also mentioned, “Early childhood will remain a central part of her public work.”
This update follows speculation that Kate might be returning to work soon, as she recently shared a trailer for a new project on Instagram in collaboration with Mental Health Week.
The official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales released a short film addressing mental health challenges faced by UK farmers.

The film, starring Love Island’s Will Young, highlighted the royals’ pledge to support farmers’ mental health in rural communities.
Additionally, Prince William provided an update on Kate’s condition during a visit to a hospital on the Isles of Scilly last week, saying his wife was ‘doing well.’
During his visit to St. Mary’s Community Hospital, William learned about a new health and social care facility being built nearby.
He was also given a letter by matron Lynda McHale, written by her granddaughter, wishing Kate and King Charles the best in Kate’s recovery.
