No celebrity can escape videos from the past that resurface and go viral today.
Such is the case of a fragment of a 2001 interview featuring none other than Emma Watson, who at the time was promoting her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter saga.
That video from more than 20 years ago went viral on TikTok, prompting a flurry of all kinds of comments.
What did Emma Watson say about Prince William?
The footage, taken from the archives of the U.S. morning show “Live with Regis and Kelly,” shows a young Watson answering questions from the charismatic duo.
Among the questions, there was one in particular that caused an Internet sensation:
“Somebody told me you have a big crush on Prince William?” said host Regis Philbin, to a then 11-year-old Watson.
Watson’s response? A shy smile with sparkles in her eyes. While the viral video didn’t rescue the actress’ response, she admitted “a little bit.”
“Brad Pitt’s a ‘dude’ but William is pretty,” Watson said.
The video, uploaded by user @windspncer, quickly garnered more than 235,000 views and more than 35,000 “likes” and a slew of comments praising both the actress and the prince.
The viral TikTok video was titled “Even Emma Watson has a crush on Will,” and has reignited the long-standing fascination many young girls had for the young Prince William.
One user wrote, “Imagine, Princess Emma of Wales,” another user said, “Who wouldn’t be in love with Prince William.”
Many users praised the handsome young royal’s attractiveness.
But Watson’s connection to the royal family goes beyond platonic love.
In recent years, she has been seen speaking with Prince William at high-profile events, from the prestigious Earthshot Awards in 2021 to a memorable encounter at a reception at Windsor Castle in 2014.
On the latter occasion, Watson was part of a constellation of celebrities, including the likes of Ralph Lauren, Cate Blanchett and Kate Moss, gathered to support The Royal Marsden Hospital, of which William is chairman.
