King Juan Carlos, the father of Felipe VI, has returned to Spain after a three-month absence, with his sights set on the sailing championship organized by the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, in which he usually participates as a guest.

Article summary
Upon his arrival in Galicia in a private plane from the United Arab Emirates, Emeritus Juan Carlos was received with the same warmth as on his previous trips.
Upon landing at Vigo airport, located near the picturesque Galician town, the King emeritus was greeted by Pedro Campos himself, a loyal friend of the monarch for decades.
Is Emeritus King Juan Carlos looking for a house in Spain?
Speculation surrounding this visit centers on King Juan Carlos’ intention to look for a house in the area, which would allow him greater independence instead of being a constant guest at his friend’s residence.
Images of King Juan Carlos’ disembarkation showed a slight improvement in his mobility, as he managed to get down without assistance, unlike his previous visits where he has been seen with an attendant by his side.
Despite the mobility problems, the emeritus king seems to be in better shape.
Curiously, the absence of Infanta Elena, who was his constant companion during his first stay in Sanxenxo, made a notable difference on this occasion.

During his previous visit, the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo welcomed an enthusiastic public, eager to see the former monarch, while during the recent visit in April, the affluence was much smaller. It is likely that also this time the reception will be more discreet.
This visit is the third public trip to Spain of King Juan Carlos since his semi-voluntary exile in Abu Dhabi.
Although he has resided in the United Arab Emirates since August 2020, he has also traveled to other destinations, such as London, Athens, Paris, and Geneva, for various engagements and personal events.
Coinciding with the presence of King Felipe in Mallorca and the arrival of Queen Letizia and her daughters on the island, the media attention surrounding King Juan Carlos’ visit to Sanxenxo is expected to be relatively modest.
While the sailing championship takes place and the King emeritus enjoys his stay in Galicia, the Spanish press will be digging deep into whether the emeritus Juan Carlos is on a possible house hunt in Spain.
Juan Carlos’ legal problems
The King Emeritus’ visit to Spain comes after legal representatives of his former mistress, Corinna Zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, 59, filed a petition in London’s High Court, urging the court to reject the request by the defense of King Juan Carlos, 85, to dismiss the harassment claim.
Last week the High Court in London held preliminary hearings on Corinna’s complaint of direct harassment and harassment through third parties.
The relationship between Corinna and King Juan Carlos took an intriguing turn following a major financial transaction. The former king had gifted $72 million to his former mistress but then demanded its return.
When the German woman refused to return the money, she became a victim of harassment, which had serious consequences for her life. As reported by Corinna, she suffered from anxiety, depression, and financial losses due to an alleged campaign to tarnish her reputation.
In response to Larsen’s accusations, Juan Carlos I has vehemently denied any involvement or direction of harassment against her.
