Prince William doesn’t mind admitting that his hair isn’t exactly his greatest attribute. Recently, during a public event, he even joked about it.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales showed good humor by making a self-deprecating comment about his thinning hair during a visit to the West Midlands on March 11.
On this occasion, William dropped in on Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall to observe a referee training course organized by the Football Association (of which he is a patron).
The aim of the course is to recruit 1,000 people of Black, Asian, and mixed descent to serve as referees.
What did Prince William say about his hair?
William, after being enthusiastically welcomed by children and neighbors who came to see him, was struck by one woman’s striking red hair.
“Look at your hair! It’s fantastic,” William told the fan, who had very short hair.
He then laughingly added, in images shared on X: “Wish I had hair like that. I know, I don’t stand a chance.”
To top it all off, the Prince of Wales smiled for a selfie when the woman asked him to, suggesting that the royal craze for taking selfies with fans is here to stay.
It’s not the first time Prince William has joked about his hair loss.
Back in 2020, while launching his environmental Earthshot Prize, he commented that he “had hair.” And in 2017, he told a hairdresser during a visit, “I don’t have much hair, I can’t give you much business.” It seems Prince William isn’t just a future king—he’s also a man with a great sense of humor.
