Christmas is a special time for the British royals, who gather each year at a luxurious location steeped in history and tradition.

It is Sandringham House, a country house that has belonged to the family  and is located in the county of Norfolk, in the east of England.

There, the Windsors celebrate Christmas Eve with a gala dinner where they wear their best suits and jewelry and exchange gifts.

The next day, they attend mass together at the nearby Church of St. Mary Magdalene, a small 16th-century chapel that has been the site of many christenings.

    What Sandringham House is like

Sandringham House is a Jacobean mansion with a red brick facade and large windows.

It has a large ballroom, a stable for horses, and an extensive park with gardens and woods.

It was purchased by Queen Victoria in 1862 at the request of her son Edward VII, who made it his favorite residence.

Queen Elizabeth II also had a great affection for this place, where she spent many Christmases. Since then, she has maintained the tradition of spending the holidays there with her family, except for a few special occasions.

Christmas dinner is one of the most anticipated moments for guests, who enjoy a seven-course meal prepared by the royal chef.

According to Darren McGrady, who worked for the Queen for 15 years, the main course is usually turkey with a variety of stuffings, accompanied by baked potatoes, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Fine cheeses and York ham are also served, among other delicacies.

After Mass on December 25, the royal family enjoys recreational activities on the grounds of the estate.

Prince William enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, and he and other royals practice archery and football, often organizing matches with his children and other family members. There are also horse and carriage rides through the natural countryside.

Sandringham House is undoubtedly a place of charm and elegance where the British Royals celebrate Christmas in style and tradition.
