Many students are counting the days to finish classes and enjoy their long-awaited summer vacation. Among them, Princess Leonor, 18, and the Infanta Sofia, 17, are also looking forward to disconnecting from their obligations.
Although the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia still has a few weeks of training left at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, her younger sister has only ten more days of classes ahead of her, in which she will face a new challenge.
Infanta Sofía receives advice from Leonor
The Infanta Sofia is taking her first year of high school at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales, the same school where her sister studied. In order to return home on June 14, Sofia must complete an academic essay on the sociology of the world.
She is preparing thoroughly, and has even visited some of Oxford’s most prominent museums to gather information for her project. Leonor, who also completed this essay when she was studying there, has surely given Sofia some useful advice.
This essay is not just Sofia’s project, but one that all students must complete in order to complete their first year of the baccalaureate.
The experience at this international school has been unforgettable for Sofia, allowing her to meet people from different countries and cultures, and to be enriched both in the classes and in the colloquiums with experts who share their knowledge.
In addition to the academic project, Sofia has also had to demonstrate her physical skills at the ‘Celtic’ camp, another activity that her sister also did.
In this camp, she and her companions have had to survive outdoors and connect with nature. According to ‘Monarchy Confidential’, the young people have lived together in a rustic camp in West Wales, sleeping in tents and participating in activities such as climbing, kayaking and surfing.
One of the rules of the camp is not to use cell phones, which leaves them incommunicado for six days. Close sources comment that Leonor and Sofia are very close, and Sofia probably received some survival tips from her sister.
When do Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia meet?
On June 14, Sofia will finish her classes and return home, waiting a few more days for the family to be fully reunited.
On June 19, Leonor will finish her training at the Military Academy, and the family will attend her graduation, a very important event for everyone. Afterwards, the sisters will be able to enjoy time together before Leonor has to leave for Marin to continue her military training.
In addition to these academic challenges, this year Sofia will preside over her first official act alone, sponsoring a photography contest that bears her name. This event, to be held in the capital, will be a very special moment for her.
