When is the coronation of King Charles III?
The king will receive the imperial crown in a ceremony scheduled for May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey, UK officials revealed to Bloomberg.
The ceremony will be smaller and more demure than his mother’s coronation on June 2, 1953. As an added bonus, the monarch will assume the throne just one day after Elizabeth II’s reign celebration date.
Last June, Elizabeth II celebrated the Platinum Jubilee for 70 years on the throne, something historic for British monarchs.
How the coronation of King Charles will be
In addition to the imperial crown, Charles III will receive the rod and the Orb that represent the formality of his reign. He will also be anointed with oil, receive the blessing and be consecrated by the major clergy. Finally, the crown of St. Edward, the most valuable piece of the monarchy, will be placed on him.
