Princess Leonor is on her voyage aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, but despite the distance that separates her from her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, technology allows them to stay close to her at all times.
Thanks to maritime tracking applications, the monarchs can follow in real time every movement of the boat carrying their daughter across the Atlantic Ocean.
Where is Princess Leonor?
Since the heiress to the throne set sail from Cadiz, her parents have had the help of platforms such as ‘Vesselfinder’, a tool that provides detailed information on the location of the ship.
With this application, it is possible to know not only the exact coordinates of the Elcano training ship, but also relevant data such as speed, course, draft and weather conditions in real time.
All this allows Felipe VI and Letizia to feel more at ease knowing how their daughter’s voyage is developing.
Leonor’s first stop was in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where the young princess showed her enthusiasm for this new experience.
During her brief stay on land, it was anticipated that she would be able to communicate directly with her parents to share details of her life on board and living with her shipmates.
However, as the ship continues its route to South America, including stops in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and all the way to New York, technology will remain the key link between the princess and her parents.
In addition to ‘Vesselfinder’, there are other apps such as ‘Marinetraffic’ that allow for even more detailed tracking, something the King and Queen will surely use to keep track of every stage of this challenging voyage.
Although physical distance is inevitable, the emotional closeness and unconditional support of their parents are assured thanks to technology.
