Princess Leonor, the 17-year-old future Queen of Spain, has decided to join the army and began her training at the Military Academy on August 17th.

Why did Princess Leonor join the military

    • Tradition and duty: As heir to the throne, Princess Leonor has an important responsibility to represent the crown and serve her country.

Joining the Army is a way of fulfilling this duty and continuing the monarchical tradition of having a link with the armed forces.

In addition, her father, King Felipe, and grandfather, former King Juan Carlos, went through the same experience, and it is part of the Princess’s preparation to one day become Queen of Spain.

    • Training and leadership: Attending the Military Academy gives Princess Leonor the opportunity to receive rigorous training in discipline, leadership and teamwork.

These skills are fundamental to her future role as queen and leader of Spain.

    • Connection to Society: By joining the military, Princess Leonor establishes a direct connection with the men and women who serve their country and protect the safety of its citizens.

This experience will allow her to better understand the needs and challenges of Spanish society.

    • Values and commitment: The military promotes values such as honor, respect, and commitment to one’s country.

By joining this institution, Princess Leonor demonstrates her commitment to Spain and her willingness to follow the principles and values represented by the Armed Forces.

    • Preparation for the future: Princess Leonor’s military training provides her with a solid foundation for her role as future Queen.

It will give her the tools she needs to face challenges, make important decisions, and lead responsibly in the future.
