Although the Sussexes have put down roots in California, it seems that Prince Harry is not ruling out his children having an educational connection to the United Kingdom.
According to Grant Harrold, former butler to King Charles, Harry is quite interested in Archie and Lilibet receiving at least part of their education on British soil. It wouldn’t be right now, of course, but he does see it as a possibility further down the line.
The matter, as expected, does not depend solely on Harry’s interest. Harrold suggests that much will depend on how the relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family evolves. In his words, “it’s completely possible,” but everything would be conditioned by family ties at the time the decision is made.
And although the outlook does not look particularly friendly today—especially after losing the right to security funded by the British state—nothing can be ruled out in the long term. Especially with those attempts at rapprochement that, they say, took place recently.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the scale, the Wales have their children’s school path much more clearly mapped out.
George, Charlotte, and Louis are at Lambrook in Berkshire, and everything points to George moving on to Eton in September.
Charlotte, for her part, is rumored to be a possible future student at Marlborough, the school where her mother studied before going to the University of St. Andrews.
And although there have been no official announcements yet, there is speculation that not all of William and Kate’s children will go to university. Harrold even suggests that some could go straight to Sandhurst.
Perhaps Archie and Lilibet will end up with a mixture of both worlds: a Californian childhood and a British education. Or perhaps not. As Harrold said, “time will tell.”
