When Kate Middleton courageously announced her diagnosis in March, she requested time, space, and privacy to recover away from public attention.
Despite her request, social media has started buzzing with conspiracies again, which only adds unnecessary pressure on the Princess.
It has been confirmed that she will not participate in Saturday’s parade. However, Kensington Palace has yet to confirm or deny her appearance on the balcony, leaving them to handle a flurry of endless questions.
Will Kate Middleton Appear on the Balcony?
The Princess of Wales holds the title of Colonel of the Irish Guards, and Number 9 Company of the Regiment would be in charge of carrying the color during the King’s birthday parade this Saturday.
Last weekend, during the final dress rehearsal known as the Colonel’s Review, she did not attend the Horse Guards Parade to give the traditional Royal Salute.
Instead, she penned a heartfelt letter to her regiment to express her support and wish them good luck.
She wrote: “I wanted to let you know how proud I am of the entire Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour.”
She continued, “I appreciate that everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, dedicating many hours to ensure their uniforms and drill are immaculate. Being your Colonel remains a great honour, and I deeply regret that I’m unable to take the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review. Please extend my apologies to the whole Regiment, and I hope to represent you all again very soon. Best wishes and good luck to all involved. Quis separabit.”
Back in March, a royal source suggested that the Princess might be interested in attending certain events if she feels well enough and her doctors approve.
However, it’s important to note that any appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony does not signify a return to her regular public duties.
India McTaggart, Royal Correspondent at the Daily Telegraph, mentioned on GB News’ “The Royal Record” podcast this week: “[A balcony appearance] would be a low-pressure way for her to show support for the King.”
She explained, “Standing on the balcony with the Royal Family and her children for a few minutes is vastly different in terms of expectation and stamina compared to taking the salute for the Irish Guards during the Colonel’s review.”
“Inspecting all the soldiers, standing for an extended period, and being the focal point of that engagement requires much more effort.”
Trooping the Colour is a celebration of King Charles III’s official birthday, a gift from the Household Division to their Colonel-in-Chief, and a moment of national celebration.
The British Army wants the focus of the celebrations to be on the King.
For the Princess, her priority remains her children and her recovery. Kate will return when she is ready.
