The Princess of Wales has donated some of her hair to make wigs for cancer patients.
The move is part of her personal battle against the disease, which she recently went public with.
On March 22, the Princess announced that she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” after cancer cells were discovered following abdominal surgery in January.
She asked for privacy for her family while she completes the treatment.
Sitting on a bench in Windsor Gardens, she explained that although the operation was successful, subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer.
Her medical team recommended chemotherapy and she is now in the early stages of treatment.
The princess described the news as a “huge shock” and shared how she and her husband, Prince William, have been handling the situation privately for the sake of their children.
She mentioned that it has taken time to recover from the surgery and begin treatment, but the most important thing has been to explain the situation to her children, George, Charlotte and Louis, in an appropriate and reassuring way.
“But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay,” she said referring to her three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

Kate Middleton donates hair
Now, weeks after the announcement, it has been revealed that the princess donated some of her hair in 2017 to The Little Princess Trust, a British charity that makes wigs for cancer patients.
A spokesperson for the organization said, “It’s wonderful to think that someone, somewhere, has received a wig with the princess’s hair.
This altruistic initiative came about six years ago when, after a conversation with her personal hairdresser, Joey Wheeler, Kate decided to have a makeover and contribute to a noble cause.
Her gesture of helping strangers during her battle with cancer is a testament to her empathy and generosity.
Kate Middleton to lose hair to cancer?
Hair loss is a common side effect of many chemotherapy treatments, but not all chemotherapy drugs cause hair loss.
Some can cause mild thinning or complete hair loss.
The likelihood of hair loss depends on the type of treatment and the medications used.
However, everyone experiences hair loss differently and not all people who receive chemotherapy lose their hair.
Hair loss due to chemotherapy is generally considered a temporary problem.
Hair usually grows back within three to six months after treatment ends, although it may have a different texture or color at first.
Specific information about Kate Middleton’s treatment and its effect on her hair has not yet been made public.
Therefore, any definitive statement as to whether or not she will lose her hair as a result of her treatment would be speculative.
If the Princess of Wales is receiving a type of chemotherapy that causes hair loss, she may experience this side effect. However, with the options available today, there are ways to manage and potentially reduce this impact.
Kate Middleton cancer effect
The impact of the ‘Kate effect’ on public awareness of cancer has been significant.
Professor Peter Johnson, head of cancer at NHS England, praised Kate’s courage in sharing her diagnosis, which has encouraged more people to get screened.
Cancer information websites have seen an increase in traffic, proving that speaking openly about cancer can raise awareness and save lives.
