The British Royal Family is back on everyone’s lips with a surprising new decision.
Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, has chosen her daughter’s best friend Zara Tindall to play the role of her new lady-in-waiting.
Who is Princess Anne’s Maid of Honor?
Dolly Maude, a 51-year-old midwife by profession and Zara’s close confidante will begin working with Anne in early February, The Telegraph reported.
Princess Anne is looking for extra support in her busy schedule since her mother’s death.
Maude thus becomes the first close family friend to hold the formal position of lady-in-waiting.
Traditionally this role was held by the wives or daughters of British peers, but Anne has expanded the possibilities to include those she absolutely trusts.
She shares Maude’s interest in horse racing and has seen firsthand how prepared she is to deal with medical emergencies.
Without going any further, in 2021 Maude delivered Zara Tindall’s baby at her home when a complication arose. Not only did she help her, but she has also attended all three of Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter’s births.
Maude was a bridesmaid at Zara’s wedding to Mike Tindall, who jokes that his wife prefers her.
Princess Anne seeks the support of her new lady-in-waiting to handle her overloaded schedule since the Queen’s death.
The sister of King Charles III is the one who carries out the most official activities each year, a number that has continued to rise.
With Maude, she will be able to attend to all her responsibilities and also have someone she trusts close by.
