A month after Princess Leonor entered the military academy, photos released by the Spanish royal family have caused a stir on social media.

These images have revealed an unknown side of the princess, showing her using weapons, performing military tactical exercises and sporting a new hairstyle. But what has drawn a lot of attention is her remarkable thinness.

At just 17 years old, Leonor entered the Military Academy of Zaragoza on August 17th, as part of the requirements for her future role as heir to the throne.

For three years, the Princess of Asturias will undergo rigorous military training.

The images posted by the royal family were widely shared on Spanish royal fan accounts on Instagram, where users highlighted the princess’s thinness, especially when compared to photos taken in Mallorca earlier this summer.

It is likely that Leonor’s weight loss is related to the intense military training she is undergoing.

It has been reported that the princess must maintain ideal physical conditions, which includes running for at least 45 minutes continuously three times a week and doing 100 push-ups a day.

Due to the demands of these strenuous workouts, at least 52 of the 612 companions who began military training with Leonor have decided to drop out or have been unable to pass the tests.

    What is Princess Leonor’s diet?

“El Heraldo”, a Spanish media outlet, has explained what the Princess’ diet consists of during her stay at the Military Academy of Zaragoza.

According to the report, both the Princess of Asturias and her companions have a diet designed to meet the needs of those who experience great physical wear and tear, so the soldiers’ diet is of the utmost importance.

The meal consists of a first course, a second course and a dessert, which is the same for everyone, although the dessert can be dairy or fruit, in any quantity, according to the food service manager.

Everyone eats the same, with the exception of those who are gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant or have allergies, although no special menu is offered for vegans or vegetarians.

Dining room service is available for breakfast from 6:00, lunch from 14:00, to 17:00, and dinner from 20:00 to 21:00.

The menu is varied and free of charge. Protein sources such as meat and fish are alternated with legumes.

“There are days when stew is served with its soup and legumes,” the staff said.

Soldiers also have access to the cafeteria, which is open from 12:00 to 22:00 and offers a wide variety of menus.

The cadets use their free time to have a drink. They pay out of pocket, but the prices are reasonable.

The cafeteria offers sandwiches for just over $3, as well as hamburgers and combo meals.
