The 2023 edition of the Princess of Asturias Awards promises to be memorable, as it could be the last ceremony presided over by King Felipe and Queen Letizia.

Princess Leonor turns 18 on October 31, which means she will be in charge of the awards from now on.

This year’s ceremony will be headlined by award-winning Hollywood actress Meryl Streep.

In addition, Queen Letizia recently confirmed that the Infanta Sofía, who is studying in Wales, will also accompany the royal family.

The agenda of the Princess of Asturias Awards includes several events. On Thursday, October 19, the King and Queen and their daughters will attend the pre-concert on the eve of the ceremony.

This will be the first official appearance of the royal family and it is expected that, as in previous years, there will be some surprises.

On Friday morning, October 20, the King and Queen, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia will attend a series of audiences.

In the afternoon, the Campoamor Theatre will be the venue for the Awards Ceremony, where the Princess of Asturias will make her long-awaited speech.

The following day, the royal family will conclude its program of events with the awarding of the Prize for Exemplary Town.

It is expected that this year there will be no setback that will change the day, and last year the Infanta Sofia was absent due to illness and Princess Leonor had to leave in the middle of the day for the same reason.
