Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently opened up about their desire to keep their children, Archie and Lilibet, safe in a heartfelt interview with CBS Sunday Morning.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex emphasized that protecting their children is their top priority as parents.
Harry and Meghan’s CBS Interview
The interview, which is set to air soon, centers around the couple’s latest initiative aimed at supporting parents whose children have been affected by online harm.
A trailer for the interview has already been released, giving viewers a glimpse into the couple’s thoughts on parenting and their new project.
In the trailer, Meghan speaks lovingly about their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
“Our kids are young, they’re three and five, they’re amazing,” she says. “But all you want to do as parents is protect them. And so as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.”
The couple also discusses their efforts to support parents who have lost children to online bullying and their ongoing campaign to address this critical issue.
When the host comments on the importance of having someone to help when children are in need, Harry responds, “If you know how to help… At this point, we’ve got to the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder. Even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to tell the signs of possible suicide. That is the terrifying piece of this.”
A spokesperson for CBS confirmed the exclusive interview, explaining:
“The Duke and Duchess sat down with CBS Sunday Morning host Jane Pauley last week for an exclusive interview to introduce a program aimed at supporting parents whose children have been impacted by online harm. Jane also spoke with parents participating in the pilot program who described how it has helped their healing process.”
This interview comes three years after Harry and Meghan’s explosive conversation with Oprah Winfrey, where they made several allegations about the Royal Family.
It also follows the recent announcement that the Duke and Duchess have been invited to visit Colombia by the country’s Vice President, Francia Márquez.
This visit is set to occur shortly before the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, where Harry and Meghan will continue their advocacy work.
