Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y Borbón, the eldest son of Infanta Elena and Jaime de Marichalar, celebrates his 25th birthday.
This milestone holds a special significance for the young royal, as his life has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past year.
Felipe Juan Froilan’s 25th birthday: A Fresh Start in Abu Dhabi
Struggling to find his place in Spain, Froilán’s journey has been plagued by controversies, rumors, and a lack of direction.
To guide him on a new path, his mother made the decision to send him to live with his grandfather, King Juan Carlos I, in Abu Dhabi.
Since relocating to Abu Dhabi, Froilán wasted no time in carving out a new life for himself. He secured employment with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, one of the world’s largest oil companies, where he reportedly receives a monthly salary ranging from six to seven thousand euros. This stable income allows him to lead a comfortable life in the Emirati capital.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Froilán has also embraced leisure activities in his new surroundings. According to ‘Vanitatis,’ the young royal frequents exclusive restaurants, engages in sports such as paddle tennis and kite surfing, and resides in a fully equipped apartment located in a towering skyscraper.
While he continues to enjoy the nightlife, his pace appears to have mellowed compared to his days in Spain, suggesting a positive change and newfound contentment in his current lifestyle.
The decision to send Froilán to Abu Dhabi was made by his mother, the Infanta Elena, who discussed it with journalists Paloma Barrientos and Aurelio Manzano in an interview for ‘Fiesta.’
During their conversation, the Infanta sought to dispel certain misconceptions about her son, including the notion that his apartment was paid for.
“He pays for it with his salary. The first month, his parents did help him pay for it, but after that, he is paying for it himself,” Revealed Paloma.
The Infanta also openly discussed Froilán’s relocation, revealing that it was a decision he requested himself.
“He wanted to leave Spain because the situation here was becoming untenable due to the many controversies he has been involved in,” Paloma explained.
A Tumultuous Past
Froilán’s life has been marred by numerous controversies over the years.
One particularly notable incident occurred when he was evicted from an illegal after-party before returning to the United Arab Emirates.
Dubbed ‘The after party of the afters’ and announced through WhatsApp, the clandestine gathering took place in a VIP room at the Bernabéu, featuring saunas, jacuzzis, and showers.
The overcrowding prompted the eviction of 229 people, including Froilán.
Authorities seized narcotics and a knife, and smoking occurred in enclosed spaces, with the reserved areas exceeding permitted capacity threefold.
Another controversy involved Froilán’s alleged involvement in a knife fight outside an exclusive nightclub in Madrid’s upscale neighborhood.
In December 2022, a mass brawl ensued, with multiple-bladed weapons being used. While some injuries were sustained, including a 2.5-centimeter wound suffered by a close friend of Froilán, no formal complaints were made.
‘El Programa de AR’ clarified that Froilán was not the instigator of the fight.
