Last April 9, the British royal family attended the religious service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. This religious celebration coincided with the wedding anniversary of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who have been married for 17 years. It also marked the second anniversary of the death of Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
On that Easter Sunday, a British royal paid a subtle tribute to the late Prince Philip.
James, Earl of Wessex’s Tie: a subtle tribute to Prince Philip
James Mountbatten-Windsor, 15, the youngest son of the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh; Edward and Sophie, accompanied his parents to Mass and for the occasion opted to wear a green tie printed with several Land Rovers, the late prince’s favorite car.
During his long life, Prince Philip showed his passion for these vehicles, to the point of acquiring several and working for nearly 20 years on the design of a green version of the Land Rover Defender for his own funeral.
The husband of Queen Elizabeth II began designing his own hearse in collaboration with Land Rover in 2003, on his 82nd birthday.
In March of this year, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie assumed the titles of Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, respectively, a title previously held by Philip during his lifetime. Little James became the Earl of Wessex, and in his first public act with his new title, he wanted to have a nice gesture with his beloved grandfather.
