Many people do not know that Queen Elizabeth II has four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, undoubtedly a fairly large family that over the years some have attracted much attention.
However, within her large family there are some who go unnoticed, as is the case of the youngest of her grandchildren, James, Viscount Severn.
Who Is James, Viscount Severn?
The youngest of Elizabeth II’s grandchildren, James was born on December 17, 2007 at Frimley Park Hospital and is the youngest son of Prince Edward and Sophie of Wessex. He ranks 15th in the line of succession to the British throne since the birth of Beatrice of York’s son last 2021.
The 14-year-old is said to be one of Elizabeth II’s favorite grandchildren, and his recent public appearances have made headlines because of how much he has grown.
It should be noted that his parents have tried to ensure that James has a life as far away from the spotlight as possible, as is the case with his sister, although she is seen a little more often.
James lives with his parents and his older sister, Lady Louise, at the family residence in Bagshot Park, Surrey. The young man has studied at Eagle House School and St George’s School Windsor Castle, two private co-educational and independent schools near his residence.
The young man is Viscount Severn, one of his father’s subsidiary titles and a nod to his mother’s Welsh roots. Although he could have the status of prince and the title of royal highness, Buckingham Palace announced in 1999 on the occasion of the marriage of Edward and Sophia that their children would not have this status, although when he turns 18 he could decide otherwise.
At 14 years of age, her public appearances with her parents have been few. His first official trip abroad was in April 2015. In the United Kingdom he has been present at some important events such as the Platinum Jubilee or the Commonwealth Games.
James is a young man much loved by his family, participates in outdoor activities and has impressed with his great skill fishing, as published in 2019 by the newspaper ‘The Sun’. Like his sister he “does not like social networks”, so revealed his mother in an interview, so the young man tries to go quietly unnoticed.
