This Thursday a judge awarded the third degree classification to Iñaki Urdangarin. Infanta Cristina’s husband is close to semi-freedom after this new benefit.
Iñaki Urdangarin requested the measure from the judge who, after several evaluations, chose to make the decision.
Classification of third degree to Iñaki Urdangarin
The Penitentiary Surveillance Court Number 1 of Castilla y León granted the classification in third degree (semi-freedom regime) to Iñaki Urdangarin, who was sentenced to 6 years for the Nóos case.
Urdangarin was serving his sentence in Brieva prison (Ávila) in absolute isolation due to security measures.
“In this case, the inmate has been in absolute isolation and loneliness since his admission to prison in June 2018 until September 2019, from which time it would have passed, via art. 117 RP, to enjoy some outings (two in principle, later expanded to three) to carry out a treatment activity. Departures that have been interrupted, months later, towards February 2020 due to the current pandemic ”, emphasizes Judge Florencio de Marcos.
Similarly, the surveillance judge predicts that Iñaki parole will arrive in the spring of 2022.
